Uninterruptible Power Supply Resources: APC UPS

• APC's Desktop APC UPS sizing Calculator – Probably the best resource for determining what product specifications you require for your application- allows you to size by devices or load, single PCs, or a combination of PCs and devices.  Uninterruptible power supply recommendations are all APC products, from Smart-UPS ( SU700, SU1400, SUA1000 ) to Back-UPS (BK280, BP650, BP1200 )and Matrix series ( MX3000, MX5000 ), but the VA (volt Amp) ratings can be translated into other manufacturer's models, as well as used for sizing an APC UPS.
• APC UPS Server Calculator – Dell and Cisco enterprise UPS load calculator and UPS advisor. Wattage and plug type for all Dell and Cisco Server equipment!
• RefurbUPS APC UPS Replacement Battery Finder Tool– A terrific free tool that can help you find just the right RBC (Replacement Battery Cartridge) for your UPS.  Focus on APC UPS, but all brands as well.
• Uninterruptible Power Supply Guidelines - A helpful overview from the eggheads at Stanford.  For the uninitiated, a detailed overview of how the technology works, and what to use it for.  Some pretty technical stuff that we learned a few things from!
• PCGuide.com's UPS information – An excellent series of pages explaining everything you need to know about UPSes.  If you don't want to learn to build one, just how to buy one, these pages are helpful, if a bit tedious to link through - only about 1 paragraph of info per page, lots of ads.
• Power Supply Glossary – A helpful guide for some of the more esoteric terms used in the discussion of power protection.  Make sure they aren't throwing techno - babble terms at you, read up on all the technical phrases that are relevant to APC UPS and other manufacturer's uninterruptible power supplies.
• Uninterruptible Power Source FAQ – A good overview of uninterruptible power supplies.  Covers replacement batteries for UPS units. 
• Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) FAQ – Jetcafe’s nifty uninterruptible power supply (UPS) FAQs.  Mostly similar information to most FAQs, with a focus on the desktop PC.
• User Reviews - Uninterruptible Power Supplies – Some helpful reviews of various uninterruptible power supplies.  Of course, APC scores favorably with their Smart-UPS (or SmartUPS) series, as well as the economy Back-UPS series.  Most units will perform well past 5 years if properly serviced and maintained with new replacement batteries.
• Arizona Wind & Sun Battery FAQ. – Great stuff on batteries of all kinds.  If you are interested in learning more about the replacement batteries that fit in your APC ups, and other applications that they are used for, this is a good place to start.  Uninterruptible power supply technology is essentially the same thing as a solar powered whole - house system, so the appliance load and battery bank sizing tools provided are very helpful for consumers using an APC UPS such as the Smart-UPS series for applications other than the simple desktop PC power protection role. 
• Network UPS Tools Protocol list – a great source of information on the complex machine programming languages used on APC uninterruptible power supply systems, as well as many other manufacturers.  This is really hard to find stuff- forget paying APC, get the ‘know-how’ here for free!
• APC-UPS-RBC.blogspot.com – A free public discussion and Question and Answer forum for APC uninterruptible power supply questions.
